More than a foot of new snow fell overnight at Mountain High and, after being closed for the better part of a week, the Wrightwood resort is reopening for skiing and snowboarding tomorrow (Tuesday) from 8:30am to 4pm.  The area looks like the North Pole with snowcapped trees and light flurries falling from the sky.  Mountain High will augment the natural snow with snowmaking to deepen the coverage on its most popular trails.  Terrain will be available for every level of skier and snowboarder and the resort’s Winter Sports School is in full operation offering lessons for those just getting started.

The forecast calls for 1 to 2 more inches of snow today.  The snow clears out on Tuesday with a mostly sunny week ahead followed by a slightly unsettled pattern with new snow possible Friday into Saturday.

Discounted ticket prices are still available at just $45 for adults and young adults (Regularly $69) and $25 for children ages 12 & under.  Kids six and under ski FREE with a paying adult.  Ticket sales will be limited so please arrive early for the best experience.  Prices are subject to change without notice.  More than one 6-Pack ticket can now be used during the day and Quad night tickets may be upgraded to day tickets for just $10.00.

Night operations and the North Pole Tubing Park are currently being evaluated for reopening later this week.

Says John McColly, CMO Mountain High & Stevens Pass, “It’s a winter wonderland at Mountain High and forecasters are calling for a snowier than normal March.  Winter isn’t over yet in Southern California.”

Mountain High is Southern California’s closest winter resort located just an hour and a half from Los Angeles and Orange County. The area consists of three separate mountains (Mountain High East, West, and North), and offers a wide variety of lifts and trails, a world-class terrain park, an outstanding Winter Sports School, and the region’s largest tubing area. Night skiing & snowboarding is available 7 nights-a-week peak season and snowmaking covers more than 80% of the slopes.  Mountain High has been the first resort to open in Southern California for the past 17 years and traditionally operates from mid November to mid April.
