I'm headed up on Tuesday from San Diego, and want to do some photography. I don't snowboard (my buddies do), but I have skied before.

I have no problem paying for a lift ticket to get to the higher reaches of the mountain, but wanted to ask if this was even permissible. I'd prefer to not have to rent skis (it's been 15 years since I've been on them), but would consider doing that if that was the only way to get on the lift. I'd just ski down the mountain with the hope that my gear truly is weather-sealed like the manufacturer says it is.

 Wink

I'm not at all familiar with the facility.

Hello.

Unfortunately we do not allow foot traffic on the trails, so if you want to get higher up on the mountain than just what you can see from the base area, you will have to have either skiis or a snowboard with a lift ticket. I'm sorry, but maybe skiing will come back to you much easier than you think Wink.

Thanks, Sheila!

It came back to me pretty quickly the last time I went skiing (that time, it had been a solid 20 years since I'd been on skis). My only concern is dragging my photo gear along. Ostensibly, it's weather sealed. Guess I'll be putting that to the test.

I figure a pair of short skies would do the trick, seeing as I won't be using poles too much. None of the guys I'm going with are going to be spending much time on any of the more gnarly runs, so if I can just meander my way down the mountain, that would work for me.

You guys got a "bunny hill" for old guys like me, right?

Smiley

Thanks, again!

Okay, just confirmed we have a bunch of ski blades you can rent. They're a size 94 ski but wider than a children's sized ski for stability with adult boots. I've tried them before and I think it'll be perfect if you're just looking for an easy way to get around and take photos. Hope this helps!

Wow, Sheila, thank you! I appreciate the extra effort on helping me out!

Now to go find some ski pants...
