Why do you need a waiver for a pass but you can just go buy a lift ticket?

Good question.  Both lawyers and the insurance companies would like to see a release signed anytime anything is bought (ticket, pass, etc), but they realized that the process would be so cumbersome it would affect business, so we only collect them for season passes and rely on the usage waiver on the back of every ticket to indemnify the rest.

yes but i passes were the same it would be no different. If people can not file a lawsuit on tickets with ease than by the same goes with passes. I just find it silly

You are correct.  It is silly.  But remember, people can file a lawsuit at any time for any reason.  They don't have to have a good reason, or even be in the right.  The liability release just gives us that much extra protection.
