Way to force your beliefs on the Mountain.  Seriously  wtf

I usually come to MT High a few times a season.  Not anymore.  Amazing what I learned about the marketing director after just one visit.  You are the one person in management that is forcing jumps on East, nobody else!  Lets face it, your job is useless on the weekends, place is going to be packed no matter what.  During the week is where you make your pay.  For the first two hours of yesterday I didn't see a single rider, yes a single rider hit any of your marketing genius jumps.  Later in the day it was maybe 10-15%.

The choke points for a weekday were rediculous, not to mention what it's like on the weekend.  For those wondering, they've pushed snow from the main run so you get to ski over rocks now if you don't want to hit the kickers on the lower part of east.  (Brand New Boards yesterday = Not happy about that either) Mtn High also had the award of being #2 in the nation last year with injury incidents.  I guess you're looking for the top award for years to come.  Blast this award on your website!

Your ego is incredibly huge and I find it amazing you hold the title of Marketing Director, Ski Patrol Director and Mountain Manager.  Absolutely incredible nobody has the balls to put a leash on you.  I guess this speaks volumes about Mt High Management in general.

You've lost future business from me.  Big Bear - Mt Baldy here I come for mid week action.  Thank god I didn't buy a seasons pass.

Hi Brent
As a point of contact, I can see how it is easy to associate me personally with the various aspects of the hill.  I am not the Mountain Manager or Patrol Director though, and, if anything, I speak for the customer as much as possible.  During our early discussions about East, I can tell you that I was one of the main opponents...simply because I've heard the uprising when we've tried to do such things in the past.  Now that I've seen them though, and the response from our guests, I believe that both jumps and carving can co-exist at East, and we are working hard to make it an enjoyable experience for everyone.  To that end I rode with a guest this morning who has significant industry experience from Northern California, and some definite views on the features.  He was one of the early and main adversaries to the jumps, and I gave him a free ticket in exchange for his time and suggestions.  Besides East being groomed immaculately this morning, we discussed the placement of the jumps, the flow, and I showed him how we have already begun scaling them back to give more room to the general populous.  Snow features are living entities that change daily, and it is a never ending process to keep them optimal.  I think if you visit us today, you will see a completely different scenario than you did this weekend.  Yes, there are still jumps on Goldrush but there is now plenty of room to get around them, and there are 16 other trails that don't have a single feature at all.

With regards to me being egotistical, forcing things on people, or overall being the spawn of Satan, I think I'll post this in the Mountain High section so other guests can comment.

We are certainly sorry to see you go and, if it helps to hold me personally responsible, please feel free.  But I would hope that you would give us one last try and see the changes we've made before hanging up your hat.  I skied the East Resort this morning and it was a wonderful experience for both carvers and jumpers alike.

First of all, to be taken seriously, register with your factual information instead of hiding your identity behind a bogus ID.

Personal information sent via PM.

Hopefully someone at Mt High will make the right decision here.  Love the place and will be back when I got a place to ride.  Unfortunately the new terrain park at East doesn't give me that place to ride anymore.

Some more details not sent in PM - I only ride/ski Mt High mid-week 3-4 times a year.  $55 a pop.  I'm definitely not a local and I was stoked to ski on my new boards, but pretty disappointed at what I saw at East on Monday.

FYI, I was there Monday, I don't ride weekends.

GL,

I appreciate you taking my voice seriously.  The Ski Patrol, Mtn Manager, Marketing Director comment was meant to be sarcastic.  I personally wouldn't cross post this, but your site and your mountain.

Anyway, I have a closing comment now that you know my industry background (which you are free to cross post as well or bring it out here.  Just don't post my personal details please.)  Name calling and nit picking aside.  Bottom line, nobody can complain about the features on the mountain, that's up to management to decide.  If the Ski Patrol Director OK'd this new addition with the mountains past history of on-hill incidents, it's irresponsible and reckless.  I'm confident any competent Patrol Director would not OK this looking at your mountain as a whole.

You mentioned you comped somebody to help you build the park and help it "Flow" better.  Comp some Lawyers and other risk management people now and they'll be happy to tell you how unsafe it is vs how many people actually use the features. Personally I don't care if a jumper hurts themselves, its the people these jumpers eventually crash into after a sketchy landing or setting up for these features that I feel for.

Can we all hold hands and say a prayer for the first 10 year old that gets creamed from an out of control setup or landing on goldrush?  Now’s a good time because it's eventually going to happen if the easiest run down the mountain stays like this.

1) Now the Patrol Director is to blame?

2) No, we didn't comp anyone to help build the park.  I comped a guest who sided with you and didn't care for the jumps to show them the changes we recemtly made and see what we could do to make his experience better.

3) I don't pray.  Remember, the Son of Satan thing.  Smiley   Just kidding.  I care about everyone...Including the jumpers.
