I sign on today to check how my favorite mountain has been doing over the summer, when I stumbled upon this :

Are we too cheap to hire loggers?  Quite the contrary.  We would right(sic) the check today if we had the authority but unfortunately the resort is on Forest Service land so it requires their permission.  And they have been reluctant to give it for the past 10 years.

I can't believe that you Mr.Marketing Man would say such a thing. The clear cut logging that would be required to make such a "megamountain" would have a devastating effect on the wildlife in the area. It's bad enough you guys run those lights all night long endangering only the lord knows how many birds and other critters, but to have such a cavalier attitude for our Natural NATIONAL Forest is just disgusting.I don't think me nor any of my friends will be visiting Mt.High this year.Baldy works just fine some how.I think they may even have more acres anyways.Anyways I am passing this website and links to my friends on my aol snowsports group.

Why don't you WRITE a check to your employees thanking them for returning year after year?

Interesting thoughts.  Looks like we can't win for losing.  Smiley  Either we're too cheap or we're not concerned about the environment.  Really, neither is true.  Resorts across the country act as stewards of the environment and Mountain High is no different.  We provide a fun and healthy activity in the National Forest while, at the same time, working hard to preserve the land we use.

I apologize if my comments were taken as offensive or out of line.  No one said anything about clear cutting or promoting the devastation of local wildlife.  And if such a project were ever to happen I can assure you we would work with the Forest Service to create as little impact as possible.  But, since it never will, it's a moot point and not worthy of the animosity your message conveys.  I hope you'll consider making us your favorite mountain again as my comments were not based on any realistic opportunity, or to disrespect national forest.  I was simply trying to dispel the idea that we were "too cheap" to initiate any future development.

Best wishes.
